Pets of all kinds are one of life’s greatest joys and there’s no greater feeling than knowing you gave that furry family member a second chance at life through adoption.
Why Adopt?
Though numbers have decreased over the years there is still a staggering 6.5 million animals that are brought into shelters nationwide. Of the 6.5, about 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized each year and only 3.2 million shelter animals end up getting adopted. Through raised awareness and help – whether that be donations, adoptions, volunteered time, or word of mouth – we hope that these numbers will continue to decrease.
Adopting a new friend can be one of the best decisions you make. As appealing as may be to buy a new puppy from a breeder or pet store, we strongly encourage everyone to checkout their local shelter before making such an important decision.
It’s important to keep in mind that adopting a pet won’t always be easy. Every shelter animal has a different background and a different personality. With most backgrounds unknown, it can be difficult to acclimate these new friends to a life they’re not used to. These animals may need a little extra patience, kindness, understanding, and of course, all the love and care they can get!
Let’s Get Personal
For me personally, my little buddy Obi is the best blessing in my life. When I went into the shelter in 2015, I had no intention of adopting that day. Once I saw him though I knew I couldn’t leave without him and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. As sweet as he is, however, he did come with some baggage that required a lot of patience and discipline to completely win him over and earn his trust. Now, he is the absolute best boy and I love that little guy with all of my heart!

Good Deeds
At PetFlow, we are very passionate about helping animals in need and we strive to give back as much as possible. This is why our Good Deeds program was created.
